Default Oil pressure gage low

When sitting at a light in gear, my 98 TA a4 oil pressure gage drops very low. It hovers at or slightly below 20 psi. This only happens on very hot days after driving a while. Once the RPM's come up to 2000, the pressure will jump up to 30 and higher from there. When cold, it's at 40 psi. Here's a pic I snapped with the cell phone after 30 min of driving on an 85 degree day. Is this normal?

Normal. Change to ls2 timing chain/ls6 pump if your paranoid. Mine has been doing this since I got it, still running fine.

mine never drops below 40, is over 60 when cold and pegs 80 on acceleration, i know there are huge variances in these gauges and how well they work from car to car but jeez...

mine was doing the same thing when i got it. the guy has 5w30 mobil1 oil in it....i put 10w40 reg vavolene oil in it and oil pressure bumped up about 15psi....then when i was doing my ls6 intake swap i snapd my oil pressure switch and put a new one in and when i started my car my oil pressure went up another 10. my car has high miles so i think the switch was all gummed up. the needle use to bounce around and now ima solid 40 at idle in gear

even when completely warmed up my camaro will hit near 80 psi (guage indicated) at near WOT
my silverado in sig is the exact same way except the silverado only goes to slightly over 60 on hard acceleration(not necessarily to WOT though) but does not drop below 40 , 0-40 syn. german castrol in both with ac delco filters
