Default Bad IAC?

So I'm thinking my IAC is on its way out the door...I originally thought that I had a vacuum leak but I cant find one anywhere... plus sometimes it idles perfectly on coming to a stop and others it just falls to like 400-500rpm's...

I've also heard they really don't go bad, but I don't know if i believe that...thoughts?

Do you have the capacity to have the car scanned and get your IAC counts?

Like at autoloan? Or with a tuner? At autozone it just says error...I think it's because I put an LS1 style console in it and I haven't gotten the correct plugs for the cigarette lighter, or at least thats what I've been told is wrong...
