Default 275/40R17 ET Street Radial on a 10.5" rim

Hey guys, I'm looking at Mickey Thompson ET Street Radials for my 17x10.5 TTM rear wheels. I was wondering how well a 275/40R17 is going to fit on a 10.5" wide wheel? I'd go with a wider tire, but I don't want to BFH this car.

MT's website says it will fit, but I don't want it to look like it's stretched way out of proportion. Any opinions?

i just put 315 on the back of mine with no problem. havent launched it yet though. i have a 275 on an 11" wheel and they are a little stretched but not enough to bother me really. all my friends didnt mind it either. it will work but for the rear id rather have something wider if i were you.

Thanks SSmoken, would you happen to have any pics of that 275? It's a et street radial I assume?

I recently put 315/35/17 MT Radials on the back of my car with the 17x10.5 anthracite TTMs. The way the lips are designed on the TTMs give the appearance that they're wider than 10.5" because they stick out considerably past the inner edge of the tire (also because MT radials don't have rim protectors like most other radial tires do). I would STRONGLY discourage running a 275/40/17 tire on these wheels because the lip will make them look very narrow on them. The only lowering I've done to my car is the hose mod on the rear and removed the isolators, and they fit with ZERO modification and never rub even WITHOUT an adjustable PHB! (this was a pleasant surprise when I installed them)... So, don't be scared of this. A little massaging with a hammer is DEFINITELY worth the look of the 315s if for some reason your car is different. I will post up some pics later tonight or tomorrow so you can see what I mean.

in all honesty, you should always go with the recommended size tire on a wheel, but yes the 275's will fit fine and all but will be stretched, and believe it or not when the tire is stretched just a little bit it actually handles a lot better than a tire is sits flush with the wheel... but i would still get a 315, more rubber on the pavement and lets not forget about how the way it looks... that is just my .02

Heres the 315s on my 17x10.5 TTMs. Sorry for the bad pics, thought I was going to have the car out this weekend but ended up combating a tranny leak from hell instead.

hey photochop, Do you know the rear rim offset? also whats the hose mod?? Do you think the difference in your 17" rim and me getting a 18"rim will throw anything off??
