Thumbs down help Engine build questions

Hello, So i have searched around quite a bit, but i didnt find anything. I just got finished assembling my first v8 today. I have built a inline 4 out of a DSM and an inline 6 out of a 66 stang. Both still running great. The short block is done and I did a ton of research. I have all the piston rings right, 4 spiro locks per pistons.

It seems i have a problem. I checked the rod clearences between the rods and they were all over .0012 or whatever it is, but the engine is hard to crank over at first, but after it gets going its easy. i dont know if this is accurate or not. if so whats my problem. thanks!!
