Default What would your first mod be?

Thinking of finally putting some bolt-ons to my T/A. What would your first choice be for performance to $ ratio?

If it is stock then the first mod has got to be something with exhaust. Headers, catback, muffler swap, or even just a cutout. Then you get a little power but some good sound out of it too.

Longtubes for sure! These motors can easily pick up 20-30 rwhp with a decent set of longtubes.

I was thinking around $500.00 to start but willing to make it close to $1000.00 for the rest of the year

Headers and ORY would be my choice, awesome power gains and can be done within 500 as long as you do the labor.

if your feeling cheaper or want less work lol then a lid, pp throttle body and underdrive pulley would be some options. the three together would net you about the same gains as headers IMO but with less work. well some people think the pulley is a hard install..... but its not bad at all

Well, I went with Lid, then because I know the mod bug is going to just keep bugging I went with SFC's and STB. Next will be some LT's and ORY. Maybe a Tune, or keep modding, then a tune. My goal is more than likely a SC. so many other upgrades will need to be done, but this car may be a VERY long term project car for years to come.

Lid, shifter, used LS6 intake. After that, LTs and an exhaust, a tune, and might as well swap poly motor mounts in while you're doing the LTs.

I agree with what fbodyman said.
If it was me and the above is true then I would go with pacesetters + tsp ory for $500.

But if your a stainless man like I WAS on my 98 then you might as well do something else like lid,ls6 intake, ram air ect.. because the stainless is gonna cost you $$$

You can get LPP longtubes and offroad Y, all stainless, for $600 shipped. I wouldn't recommend it though. I just received my LTs and x-pipe and the craftsmanship is average at best. I guess that's why it's so cheap (relatively, for all stainless including the X or Y)
