Default melling m155 pump?

standard volume, standard psi pump I just bought. It has a yellowish spring inside, is that a high pressure spring or not? The person I bought it from said it should be?

Yellow is a 58# spring. The high pressure spring from Melling is pink (70#).

M 155 is ok for stock rebuild, but not recommended for high performance or use with solid motor mounts. The casting is not as robust as the select series pumps.

Well if I replace it for a gm white spring then I will be fine then. It will do a lot better than the yellow spring IMO.

If the yellow spring is actually 58 psi, why do you want more? What are you doing with it that needs more oil pressure than 58 psi? I spin mine 8300 at the finish line, 8500 at times, with 45 psi. If you had a Ford, maybe. The sbc/Lt1 chevy has a great oiling system that has zero issues.

What is with the high oil pressure and even worse, high volume pumps around here? Who is telling you guys you need more oil pressure or volume?
That crap only causes heat and wear, nothing positive.

My Golen shortblock came with a M155HV pump. I put it in per the builders recommendations. Have no idea what the color the relief spring is. - I didnt do my homework on this one but was hoping the engine builder did...Haven't had any issues yet...
