Default Do I really need a aux. brake vacuum canister?

Doing some work on my brakes.

I have a 224/230 cam and I am wondering if I really need an aux. brake vacuum canister. The MAP reading I get on my Datamaster is 17 points. IIRC the stock cam was 12 points. So with BAR at 30 points clearly my aftermarket cam does not provide the same vacuum, but is it really a concern. I never really noticed any difference when I put the cannister on.

Can anyone say without a doubt, I dont need a cannister with my cam?

I ran a cam that only pulled 11" of vacuum and still had plenty of braking power, so I'd say you're fine. Even my 383 puts out enough to drive the brakes just fine, without ABS.

if your motor is serious enough to need a canister, you're probably not driving it much on the street anyways. You're not even close to needing one.

Absolutely no need for a vacuum canister. I ran that cam last year and I couldn't tell a difference in braking power or anything like that. It's a baby cam.

The HVAC canister under the overflow tank doesn't count.
