Alpine CDA-7965 CD player
Need some help on this because I'm quite the noob to the electronics/radio world. Like many people I'm tired of the crappy Moonsoon system. So I'm trying to build a nice little system for my car. First off I can get a good deal on this head unit. It's a Alpine CDA-7965. It looks like this:
Well anyways after reading up on it this guy tells me that it has "3 Preamp 4V outputs, but no internal amp (you must have an amp of some sort in order to use this CD player)"
I will ripoff everything off whenever I get a little bit of more money to get speakers and a 4channel amp but thats besides the point for now I just want to put my headunit in. What I'm trying to ask is, can I just mount this straight to my factory moonsoon system using the stock amp? Also what is a"99-4544 Multi-kit 1/2 din eq option"? Is just a wiring kit that makes everythign hook up? Is this going to be easy to figure out how to hook up from stock? What does it mean to have 3 Preamp 4V outputs. Thanks for reading this. Just trying to learn.

Our Monsoon radios (and many other GM & Chrysler radios) are 1.5 DIN height. Almost all aftermarket radios are 1 DIN height.
As for using an aftermarket headunit with the stock amp, I am not to familiar with this. Others on here have done it so it is possible, but I think they use a unit with a built in amp and pre-outs (?). This is because the stock headunit powers the tweaters. Well, thats the extent of my knowledge. Maybe Rogue Leader or one of the other experts can fill in.

To my knowledge, the stock amp does not have RCA jacks.
I found some links to similar threads that should answer all your questions. It looks like you have to use a headunit with a built-in amp.

Thanks for the help guys. I figured that so I went ahead and bought an amp and some speakers. Just need to get a dash kit, speaker wire, and an amp wiring kit and I should be ready to go soon.
