My father has a old green Mass license plate (required only on the back) on his G8 and he is due for inspection this month. We have heard that some places are turning them down and do not want to lose the plate and be forced to get new FRONT and rear tags.

Anyone local to Marlborough/Worcester area have any experience with an honest inspection shop that would be reasonable about letting us keep the plate? Obviously the car will pass otherwise, so I am not looking for a free ride or anything.

It will only get rejected if it is not legible. It also cannot be tampered with. My girls grand father had one that was faded so he was repainting them and they got taken away for not being reflective.

If it is in nice shape you should be all set

Thanks for the quick response. I am concerned because the plate is not in the very best shape, and some shops might consider it questionable. This is why I was looking for a understanding place that I may be able to reason with if they think its too worn out.

They made my father turn his plate in too, it was probably 30 yrs old, he had it on his first car!

several companies make an anti redlight/speed camera spray that makes your plate actually TOO reflective... might possibly be used to 'fix' an old green plate that lost its reflectivity

here is an example... do a google search and you'll find a ton
