Default '93 LT1 with boost

396 stroker with boost. Was told by tuner that it needed an ignition box to adjust timing under boost. Bought the Mallory 685, MAP sensor and harness. What happens to the old sensor? is it used too, only for fueling? This is on a friend's car, I didn't tune it so..... just going by what he said the tuner told him. I thought it odd that the tuner can't tune the spark thru the pcm, but I'nm not familiar with boosted engines.
Thx

The stock PCM will still need the stock MAP sensor.

Simply mount the new MAP sensor in the desired location, run a boost line to it, and run the outputs to the 685 box.

Nothing wrong with going this route, although a competent tuner could easily do it without the Mallory.
