Default 320-330 WHP on a 4.8

I have a 4.8 out of a 2004 silverado mated to a T56 in my 240sx. I have no idea how much power I am making at the moment, but I dont figure its a whole bunch since it is stock except for an LS1 intake and longtubes. Either way, it needs more. I am shooting for the 320 to 330 range as cheap as possible. I already have valve springs good for .600 lift. Can I get there on a cam only. If so, what do I need to look for. Driveabilty isnt an issue since this is strictly a race car. And this may be a dumb question, but I have some stock heads off an 02 SS. Will those bump my compression enough to buy new headgaskets? Im trying to do this with as little bottom end work as possible. Reason is the car is mainly for drifting, and eventually the engine will give up the ghost. I wanna be able to swap parts over to another $300 shortblock and go when that happens. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you're willing to take the heads off and get them milled, that can get you some compression. The 4.8/5.3 (862/706) heads have the smallest production chambers, so any others will lower you comp ratio.

I just got a set machined down to 54/55 ish cc's, put a 5.3 at roughly 10.5. Requires intake face milling to do it right. .006 for every .010 worked out perfect for our build. We took off .050, but .060 or more can be done. Just match the intake amount.

What rpm range do you use most? I'm guessing you want a large midrange power, which a tighter (108-110) cam will do.

A set of rod capscrews should be included, not much $$ for the peace of mind they deliver.
