Default Converter too losse?

Heres my setup 402 th400 spraying 150 shot soon as I let the transbrake brake button go.When I hold the transbrake down and floor it goes up to to 4800 this seems very losse for nitrious car. Also every time I spray the car it always has slight burnt smell to it something from the tranny? The converter is sprageless too if that matters.Car is mostly track car sees a litte street time. How much would I befit from getting a tighter converter? What it runs on motor et wise is great its just not picking up like it should on the nitrious.

Well to my knowledge, a converter would only be too loose, if you were blowing thru the gears. How does your car do when leaving? Does it just rev up and not pull very hard, then yes its too loose. But if it flashes say 5200 and pulls good thru 6500 then I think you it is fine. The higher you are in your powerband the better as long as your hookin and pullin. If your sitting on the brake to long, thats where you might be getting the burnt smell from. TB are hard on the fluid. Good luck

When you let off the transbrake does it pull hard or feel like it's a little sluggish? I'm not an expert but when I upped the horsewpower on my combination without having the converter redone it not only went up in stall speed it became sluggish and didn't have that solid coupling. Quick to flash high in the rpm but slow to bring the mph up especially in 1st.

It would be informative to hear from some knowledgable transmisssion and converter people.

No soon as I let go of the trans brake it pulls very hard,my 60's average are mid 1.4's.Ive trapped 112 in the 1/8 on the 150 shot its just not mph in the back half of the track hoping to pick up some mph and some et with a tighter converter.I too would like to hear from someone with experiance on this matter.

We would need some more info on your combo to tell if a tighter converter will help. What et and mph does it run on the sauce and off the sauce. We run converters at 6400stall in Top Dragster and spray 2 guns at them to go 6.50's @ 205 and 4.teens in the eighth. So what i am saying is that it is all about the combination. Gear, tire, weight, rpm range of the engine etc. As far as spragless goes you do not want to run a spragless on the street as a driver. It can be done for a short cruise at low speeds but it will create more heat.
