title question help

Default title question help

i hav a 1984 cutlass that i bought a few months ago. i started collecting parts to get it rode worthy and now i am doen with it. here is the problem. the guy i bought it from signed his name on the back of the title and never had it transfered. alos i cannot find the original owner any where even if i could find a way to get it transfered. so here is my question. even though the previous owner signed the title how can i get it in my name? thanks

Did the previous owner sign it so he could put in his name? If so you have to find the original owner and get a replacement title. Or the previous owner can put it in his name and in a few weeks he will get the title then he can sign it to you.

did you get a bill of sale from current owner? just go to the title place and they will give you a title. Some dmv places can print the title on the spot. Longview tx is one of those places. They cant be the only one in the state.

If you are wanting to get a Texas title, you will need a form 130-U filled out and also get a "statement of fact" from your local county tax collector office. Fill it out and select buyer changed their mind.

DO NOT WHITE OUT THE INFO ON THE TITLE.

the statement of fact would be like him writing it on paper r typing it and signing it and dating it right??

You need to ask for a statement of fact from the tax collectors office or the title office you intend on going to.
