Default What Front Tires for the WS6???

I'm looking for some nice front tires that perform well, but on the relatively cheap side. 275/40/17. What do people run? I would like to go to a track day one time, but i don't want a tire that won't last long.

thx

I like the Nitto 555s on the front. They last a long time, and IMO, are a pretty damn decent street tire! i also run em in 315/35(Not the DR) on the back of my stalled WS6, and they hold up well to the abuse!

You mean like 555R's? The Drag Radials? As soon as i put my Nitto Drag radials on the back, the rear started to have more sway while turning.

No, the standard 555 street tires. I run these on the front, and the 315/35s (11" wide wheel) in the back: http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...w=false&cs=275

Actually nevermind about the rain. I want the best handling tire for the money that lasts the longest!

That is because the sidewall is "softer" to aid in straight line traction. I am not a fan of their feedback under high cornering loads, but they have been good for street traction. I don't drag race much anymore, and am planning on going to a max performance tire next.

Right, I didn't realize there are 555's that are for handling I only knew of the DR's.

http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...w=false&cs=275

How do these compare to the nitto's in the previous post?

Are you looking for a road course tire, or a street tire? the 555R II is more of a road race tire. Those Falkens might be as well.

Well I want a tire that I would be able to use on a track day, but deffinitely a tire that is good on the streets, i decided I would rather not go cheap and buy a crappy tire that might break loose in a turn and cause me to crash lol. Then again I want something that will last long too. My Nitto 555R Drag radials are sticky enough for me and they lasted very long, although not made for handling. I really enjoy taking turns fast sometimes so i want a tire that can handle that, but lasts long. Once i replace my Nitto Drag radials i think i'll stick to more of a sticky handling tire, but thats if my car doesn't make too much power by then.

I have the nt555 in the 1st link and even those sway a little bit at high speeds and turning. It scared the crap out of me the first time I got on the highway but I'm on stock suspension too.

With enough speed any tire will eventually break loose. Like anything with modding cars:

1. Cheap
2. Last a long time
3. High grip

Pick two, and even then high grip and long life are directly opossed and almost impossible to achieve together.

You realy have tiers:

1. High grip tires. Sub 200 UTG tires. Proxes R1R/R1A, NT-05/01/555R, Ecsta XS/MX, Falken Azenis. They will not last long, have high grip, and price is determined by brand and the level of grip desired.

2. 200- 300 UTG tires. GS-D3, Pilot Sport. Slightly less grip, more treadwear

3. 300-340 UTG tires. Firehawk Mide Ovals, BFG KDW Decent grip, much longer tread wear

4. 340+ UTG. Al season type tires. High treadwear, moderate grip.

BFGoodrich G-force sports. Couldn't be happier. Wear like nails, and grip extremely well in front. Not the perfect tire for rear traction, but thats not what it was designed for. Excellent purchase on my cars every time.

I had 195/50 tires on an old car and they pulled 1.07 g turning right. Fantastic tire.

The best combo I've found in 12 years with my F-Body.

Goodyear GS-D3 in the rear 315/35/17
Factory WS6 rims al laround
Nitto 555 Extreme in the front 275/40/17

I get 15,000 miles out of this combo each time I've used them. Going on my 4th set in 8 years. Amazing wet traction and wet stopping, simply awesome. And dry traction is plain sick. These GS-D3's grip better out of the hole than when I tried BFG drag radials.
