Default Hp tuners 80lb injectors rich idle....Idea's?

Working on dialing in my tune and can't seem to get the idle to lean out at all. Consistantly idles around 12.2 ish and the mid range and upper range is near perfect as far as the ve table is going. The low end below 40 map is rich rich. Any ideas...feel like i'm missing something here?

base fuel is 58 psi and motor is a 2004 ls6 stock cam

if you look at cell 40MAP & 800rpm, it is currently @ 38 while the surrounding cells are in the low 30's high 20's. bring that cell down closer to the other ones. It is idling in that cell the majority of the time.

From what I understand the computer will interoplate in between cells alittle. So the smoother the VE table is the smoother the car runs and the better the A/F is.

At first I thought you were in cell that added fuel w/ the Open Loop F/A vs Coolant temp because your car is idling in the 160-165* range. Cool, but I see you have those cell set to 1.00 which is good.

Use Histogram #7 in the scanner and copy that table, Paste Special>Multi by % 1/2, over your VE table and see if that helps clear the lower VE richness up.

Did you get values with the injectors?

First thing you must work out is if you are hitting a minimum pulsewidth table. No mass slaughter of the VE table will help if this is what is happening.I dont have HPTuners, so dont know if you logged IBPW in the posted logs but that is where I would start.
With a .cax file in Efilive I have defined an extra min pw parameter which has contributed to a few guys problems. I believe HPTuners has this set as minimum transient fuel, but havent got that far into it.

Yeah 2.2mS is NOT gonna get you a clean idle... You may even have to go as slow 1.4mS

It idles smooth its just dumping massive amounts of fuel. I've never messed with pulse width tuning...Any hints on how to go about changing it to work towards the 1.4 ms

I want to learn how to do this not just dump someones numbers into my tables. Not scared to get out and log some thing and make the changes...This is my first time with such large injectors and a turbo car tune

Frost, have you been able to verify that IBPW logged in hptuners includes all the offsets & adders like with Efilive?

No, I have a GIANT list waiting on winter time and it's on there.

Without touching any of the trans stuff though, I don't have a problem getting most low. I had one particular car that found a 'false floor' but I wonder if it was something oddball in the OS.

yes it does, it's the "final" pulse width delivered.

If I recall, it's in milligrams in HPT... what's the magic behind getting from that value to IPW though? I know, play with it and see right

That's correct. You could calculate it by using IPWms = mg/IFR*1000.
IFR in G/sec

Thanks NicD.

So i managed to get it down to 1.8 msec and it still runs just as rich at idle. Had a overall positive effect as it made it run better throughout and I now get third gear tire spin. Some say its not possible to idle these at 14.7 but some do. I will post up the tune later and see if anyone has any other ideas

I haven't looked at your tune or log, but you'll need to get the ipw down to just above 1 ms. 1.1/1.2 is roughly where you'll need to be. Keep messin with it.

Ok Should I just mess with the values above and below idle or the whole range on the min pulse? And do the whole range for the adder....I just kept triming them back and trying it to see what it gets me
