Just curious and dont know much about he 10s. I have an older friend who bought a 10 and doesnt know anything about tuning and ive tuned alot of 4th gen stuff but never touched a 5th. Lookin for a hint or the answer to why its slow as a stock 4th gen still. SO...

Bought a 2300 blower and installed it himself. flawless install. But now is where my questions and my real problem starts. He had it tuned at a undisclosed shop until we figure out the issue. Very big name place been around for all time. ( to keep from any bashing)

Car has 2300 blower, 3.8 pulley, CAI, and muffler delete.

So we meet up today after his 10 hours at the dyno yesterday! he shows me the numbers. 460hp and around the same tq. Im saying WTF? im expecting this thing to be 550 plus easy! Were at the local 1/8th mile track and he takes it out and runs with us. never better than an 8.6 at 87 or 88? What the hells goin on? im runnin an 8 flat on bald street tires all day spinin and he isnt at all.

Next pass we hit the lanes again and he flags me down becasue the engine lights on, i scan it. lean on both banks it says. Now i checked his graphs when we left and got back to his shop and the AFR sayd its at an average 11.9?

whys it throwing lean codes?

Why is this thing so damn slow and down roughly 100-130hp?

Will the stock fuel system handle the blower with no boost pump such as magna volt?

I know the fuel tables were never touched, says 2 guys that were there watching. should it have even ran?

TQ managment holding it back at all?

I talked to another tuner other than myself to try to help me understand and idk what is holding this car back but he says there is something in the tune of an L99 car that you can change, if you dont no matter how much timing or fuel you put in it, it wont make anymore power? That being the jist of it anyone with ideas? Im a noob to 2010s so im eager to learn. Whats the big secret?

Also while tuning a 06 GTO (my first FI tune) found we didnt change Manifold temps to switch from composite to a blower and it kept losing power and pulling timing. Intake temps were at 130 instead of 80 or 90 with the blower. think that could have been over looked or just missed? i was a rookie then, at a big shop i dont see it but you never know.

Post your tune and a log file, hard to tell what not done or not done without see the tune.

The L99 has cam phasing. A skilled tuner will advance or retard the cam profile to best benefit the boost situation. If the cam phasing was left stock, that's not a good thing.

Another thing...if I'm not mistaken your buddy is running the stock pulley size. You will not get anywhere near 500rwhp with the stock pulley. Need a much smaller one to speed up the compressor.

Yes still a stock pulley.

The cam phasing? didnt know anything about it but if it isnt addressed will it hurt the motor?

440-460 is about right for a automatic car with a maggie or edelbrock e force blower. Remember they start off between 315-330rwhp. A manual car with a blower and nothing else will usually end up in the 480-490 range. Some will touch 500 but not often.

If you say so. i was expecting alot more since the GTO we ran hit 500 with a pretty safe tune and smaller blower. but also a smaller pulley.

I guess i expected way to much out of this car.

Any ideas on why its throwing engine codes for being lean??

Inadequate factory fuel pump?

fuel pump should be fine, mine is past 500 with a converter, so add even more...

the biggest thing is these a6's suck up an easy 20% in most cases.. so he has about 575 at the crank... same as all the "special edition" cars companies are building and calling the 550-600hp package..

I would think it would be quicker for sure, what was his 60ft??

Im having great street results tuning the Gen5 camaros.

100 HP is alot of change, but not all dyno's read the same and day to day, numbers will change.

Are you sure?

H/C LS3 cars are 480-530 rwhp depending on build.

Most 2300 builds I see on C5 are 530-550rwhp on the LS3? Near 600rwhp with different pulley and well over 600 with other added parts etc.

L99's with the Magnacharger and 3.8 pulley hit 440-460rwhp on our dyno. Stock they are 310-325rwhp.

The lean code is caused by fuel trims.
