Default Fitment of Hedman 65386 Stepped Headers

I was thinking of getting a pair of these but I've heard there are fitment issues with stock steering linkage. They are the 1 3/4 to 1 7/8 stepped version. Can anyone confirm this and if so how and where is there a problem? Not sure if I manual rack is the only way for it to work or not.

I'm hoping for Outlaw, Tony, FastFatboy, and anyone else who runs Hedmans to chime in with some info.

Also what oil pans are you guys running or on the other hand which have you tried to run? Hedmans size says "stock width oil pan" It also says no to A/C and power-steering. [I have neither]

Thanks.

My buddy has them on a stock oil pan car and it clears his manual rack setup. He has no a/c or p/s of course.

You have to either have !HVAC box or notch the hell out of it, you also should look into having a manual rack or you have to beat the hell out of a primary to have the steering shaft fit.

It cleared my canton oil pan.

I had mine on there the full set of 1 7/8 with the a/c box. I took the #4 tube heated it up and bent it toward the block about an inch. It cleared. Think it was #4.

My stepped set, cleared the factory pan just fine. I had to cut my heater box in half(basically), for the passenger side to clear. The drivers' side, 1# primary, I had to cut it off, and fab up a new one. There was NO way for it to work, unless you caved it in. Ground clearance is alright as well.

My HVAC and PS are gone anyways, but I don't have the manual rack. I have a Milodon 30909 pan...sounds like we may have to get a bit creative, won't be the first time...

Thanks guys for the info, anyone else?
