Default Tried d instead of od at the track

There was this guy at the track the other night with an lt1 and I was telling him I couldnt improve my first pass. He told me to try keeping the tranny in d and I would have more power. I dont know how true this is. Next pass I had it in d and I did nothing but spin and I mean NOTHING but spin. Is there something to this because the rest of the night I kept it in od and never spun out like that again. Or was it just a coincodence? Do you get more power in d when drag racing?

I always keep it in D instead of OD...it is not good for these trannys to go into 4th at WOT.

Other than that I have no idea

You're not going to get into 4th running 13's or even 12's. Most normal 3-4 shift MPH at WOT is set approx 130.
You might hit it as a backout shift but thats all.

You will burn your trans up in 4th at WOT.. The reason most tuners lock it out when you get a tune, especially when you have a converter. Plus it would be a total dud in 4th.

You get no more power in D than you do OD.. Most people have more problems in D than in OD, especially if you got tuned while in OD.

The spinning was coincidence.

You won't hit 4th gear in the 1/4 so you don't have to worry about that... Was kind of dumb for him to even mention that.

Leave it in OD.

That makes sense because when I had my 99 car I fried the tranny at 130 in d. It hit 130 and kept bouncing off the rev limiter. Next thing you know my gear was totaly gone.

Then keep it in OD. Read what I posted again.

The majority of people have trans problems (shifting early or more often hitting the limiter) while in D.
