Default EFI live then HPTuners, same ECM, possible?

If someone tunes an e38 ECM using EFI Live, can I edit the tune with HP Tuners? I ask because I'm considering a mail-order tune w/ EFI Live to get my project started, but I may want to go in and make changes myself later with HP Tuners.

Yes you can use it just fine. Tuning software just reads out what you have, it dont matter what a tuning software does to it.

The only way it wouldn't is if you flashed in a custom operating system from another brand.

But there are ways to make anything work, you just have to do a full flash.

The only way it wouldn't is if you flashed in a custom operating system from another brand. (or the pcm was locked by the previous software)

It won't be a problem for all the reasons already listed. But in addition on the custom os front. It is rare to need a custom os with EFI LIVE so the chances of it being a stock cal are alot higher.

Thanks for the replies. Sounds like a mail order tune would get me started and I can tweak it from there. Now to find someone that's already tuned a VVT LY6 w/ an aftermarket cam and can give me a good starting point.
