Default TH400 Driveshaft Length!

In case anyone's lazy, or wants to verify their measurement, or is just curious...

1994 Camaro
Moser 9" w/ Strange S-series center 1350 joint
28" tire biased slightly rearward in the wheelwell
TH-400 short tail

Center of the yoke to output shaft was 46 5/8" with the car at ride height.

I went with a local shop. 3" CM, solid 1350 joints, and CM yoke. 475 bucks and it'll be ready either late tomorrow or thursday morning. I was going to get a denny's but they're a little backed up, plus after shipping their shaft was only 15 bucks cheaper. I just wanna drive the damn thing, DS was the only thing holding me up

i was told by strange that they all differ a bit. i would like to think a short tail with a 9" ,1350 ujoint in my car would measure the same as yours. i dont want to have the trans in the car then turn around and wait for the ds. its bad enough i ordered my trans from rossler on the 6th of last month and picked it up yesterday.

Just for reference, with the t56 in the car I used a driveshaft that was 1" longer than stock with the rearend pushed back where it is now. The motor and rearend haven't moved since then. So if you were using a stock shaft that fit fine, or might have been a little short then factor that into my measurement.

thanks man, yea I love the color. All my friends give me a hard time when I say I have a teal car, then they see it slammed with the wheel/tire setup and they like it

Mine is under 40 inch, ujoin-to-ujoint centers.

It was 38, or 39 point something long. I forget now.

I got it from Bob @BruteSpeed, a chrome moly 1350 PST.

I'm using the GM 9.5" long Pontiac extension housing and output shaft on my th400, and my engine is also moved back 1" and a bit, over standard ls1 fbody.

Makes for a very cool short driveshaft!

There are also TWO different length ford 9 inch pinion yokes available. The typical one used by most ford 9" builders, if you buy a 9" center section, is 1" shorter than what your stock 10-bolt will be.

The ford 9" 'long' yoke that is available, is 1" longer than the typical one.. so it will bring your driveshaft back very close to 10 bolt axle driveshaft length.

I measured mine and it measured 46 7/8" per the X dimension on PST site. I'm also running a 1981 model TH400 out of a motor home and a Strange iron center section. Driveshaft is supposed to ship from PST tomorrow.
