Default Starnded out of town

Fellas i need help diagnosing my ride quick. I'm on military leave and have very little time. I attempted to start my car and it won't even turn over. The battery doesnt appear to be the problem because i have full power to all of my accesories. When I tried moving it to neutral and making sure it was in park and still nothing. I checked my battery cables and they were tight with no corrosion. I even tried my spare key thinking it could be the pass key security deterent or a defective pass key. When i turn the ignition i get the audible chimes and dash lights, but it won make a sound when i try to start her up. Any help and any mechanincs in the area would be great. All i see are dealerships, and we know what they will charge me! The only thing i can think of is the heat from my longtubes could have possibly killed my starter? Thanks again! Location is Wilmington, NC

Tried hammering on the starter? It's worked before on my old 240sx.

Same thing was happening to my car. Take a screwdriver and tap on the starter pretty good and see if it will still fire up.

The starter is a good start. Another thing it may be is the ignition switch.

Is your security light on? If it is your vehicle anti theft system (VATS) is your problem. Do a search on VATS. It is something these cars do but it is a simple fix.

I'm going with a bad solenoid on the starter. If it were the VATS it would run for a couple seconds then die.

Mine wouldn't. It did exactly the same thing as his car. Rigged up the right resistors and she fired right up

My car has the same problem at times. The security light would stay on and the car would do absolutely nothing when I cycle the key to start it. I just did a search and found this write up on bypassing the VATS.
