Default Help me with Painting Please.

I have a simple question. I have a 1998 z28 and the car has always been garage kept. If I want to re-paint the car the same color how many coats of Paint and how many coats of Clear should I ask for. Thank You.

I have a New Aftermarket SS hood and a New GM bumper cover that I want to paint to match the car. Also I have all of the normal nicks around the car in the clear coat mostly, I don't think i have any that went into the paint. Thank You for your reply.

Not sure what GM does, maybe 1-2, its pretty thin. When I repainted my car, I did 4 coats of clear. It has a deep shine to it and gives you plenty of room to wetsand and buff

So you actually wet sand and buff the clear, not the paint? Thank you for your reply.

yeah, you can color sand the basecoat if you want for perfect results but I didnt, I just wetsanded the top clearcoat. Started with 1500/2000 and I need to go back over with 3000.
