Having a 1000hp ls motor built to go in my 2010 camaro and need to know who can beef up my 6l80e to handle the hp.?
Currently runing an l99 with a mast stage 1 cam and p1 procharger with a yank 3200 converter. rwhp is 573 now and the trans is slipping so i need to know who can make the 6l80e handle the 1000hp my new forged stroker 427 will make.

Rossler out of Ohio can help.. one of the few i know of that have the knowledge with the 6L80. I just put a TH 400 in mine. had the same issues with about the same HP. Quite the swap though.

Just shy of 600rwhp myself. My A6 JUST let go last night. And from a red light, just cruising to work, of all places... LOL!
That's what happens when you put 700bhp through a trans only intended for 450.

I was very highly recommended Century Trans in TX from a pretty respected and known A6 abuser...and will be calling them as soon as they open this a.m. for the works.

I'm gonna be in the same boat soon, getting 4000+lbs moving is brutal on my trans.

The only thing that scares me about that link is "average 600" "successful with 600". What happens above that?

Default Three simple words...

One year warranty.

Yep, that's what you get from Century Transmission with their 6L80 upgrade, regardless of your power level and/or if you race the car.

I'm the "known A6 abuser" that filmjay mentioned earlier in the thread and as of this past Sunday I had put 83 low 10 second passes on my Century-built 6L80 upgrade (I have an LS7-powered 2007 Corvette) before another trans problem unrelated to the clutch upgrade caused me to have the car flatbedded home.

I've got Pinks coming up next month so Mike is going to build me another one and then open up the one that's in my car now to see what happened. The reason I'm almost certain it's not related to the clutches is because prior to this I've blown up 6 of them and it's almost always been because of the clutches.

Give him a call, I'm sure you'll be happy you did.

Thanks for that info! I too do a fair amount of racing and was concerned about dropping $2-3K with no warranty expressed by the Circle-D link above.

Looking at the Century website did you get the "Super 6L80 Build"? Whats the turnaround and how did you ship the trans?

I basically got that build but without the upgraded billet shaft as I've never broken one of those yet.

Usually about two days from the time he receives it.

All I did was buy one of those 45 gallon plastic storage containers (which you can get from Target or Walmart for less than $20) and pack it well with thick cardboard.

Thanks, good idea! If I can be nosy about how much power are you putting through it, any power adders? I need something that can handle spray so I think the billet shaft might be worth it.

Any idea on the current "non clutch" problem?

The car dynoed 520rwhp back in November but based on my best ET and trap speed I think it's making closer to 580rwhp. The problem with the 6L80 is that there's no 1:1 ratio so any number is only a close guess at best.

Nope, it's been all motor all the time. My best time ever was 9.950@139.267MPH with a 1.425 60ft (back in December, way before the Century Transmission was installed) and since then I've had to slow it down as my cage is only good to 10.0 or slower and a trap speed of under 135MPH. My best time from this past weekend was a 10.32 but my son managed to catch a slightly slower 10.389@131.55MPH pass: (the video is actually of my car and the Camaro shows up later)

And here's my 9.950 pass:

No, we won't know until I get it pulled and shipped back to him. My garage is currently occupied by an "in-process" LS7 conversion on a 2005 so it'll be a little while before I can get back to working on mine.

Default Please help. 738rwhp 2012 CTS V

This IS my DD and I love that it's over 900hp crank, runs 10's and is a true DD. That said factory trans finally spit out 4th-6th and as a daily I do not want a 4L80 trans. Who can build a 6L80 that can handle 1200hp because next is a blower swap and spray!?

The ones of us that do daily drive with a 4L80E are neanderthals

I doubt a 4L80E will cause that much drop in mileage & a well built one WILL handle 1200hp longer than any 6Lx0E transmission.

I searched a while back, and it seems that nobody will over a 6speed for over 1k, and even at 1k...it'll be a gamble.

No doubt all dependent on usage, vehicle weight etc etc etc Some might last a long time, others none at all.

Century was one of the few names I found who seem to specialise with these. General opinion is the 6L90 is stronger than the 80 too if it is an option.

I actually laughed when I seen this. If Neanderthals use 4L80s....id hate to know what people that use Th400s are lol.

I have personal experience with 1000hp 2012 turboed camaro and century, circle d and patc builds and after all those failed at one point or another, longest any of them lasted was 8 months I switched to a 4l80 and haven't had a trans failure since. Lost 1 mpg on the highway. I don't know what I lost hp wise from the swap but i know my car went 4 tenths faster and was easier to launch due to taking some gear ratio out of it. Honestly that low as **** first gear is useless with 1000hp.

Thanks for sharing your experience jordoza777.
I've been discouraged anyone considering swapping a 6L80e into their Gen4, mostly for complexity reasons, but also for the truck-like 1st gear and I doubted any drag strip improvement.
Next time I will send them a link to your post.
