PCM not reading? how can i fix this?
Since i've bought the car I wasn't able to scan it with a scanner and took it to 3 shops and they said that they weren't able to scan it either even with their high-end scanners. The last mechanic said that I needed to get it reflashed. Each scanner says that it cannot communicate with the engine control unit. Anybody else have this problem? I also asked him how my car was able to run if the pcm wasn't working, and he told me that some models are able to run if the pcm isn't working so idk...from what i know the pcm controls all of the electrical components.

Perhaps all of them did not know that despite the car having a 16 pin DLC, it is not OBD-II. I bet they were all trying to use an OBD-II scanner instead of I.

I got lucky when I got my scantool, it has two OBD2 cables. One that is OBD2, the other that is actually for the 95 GM's with the half and half..
Why it requires it's own cable too is odd, unless the pins are in different spots?

the reason your pcm is not reading is like shbox said more than likely.
'95s where OBD1 with an OBD2 connector. They probably looked at the "OBD2 connector" and figured it was an OBD2, used the OBD2 scanner, and got nothing. I've had a shop do this to my car before...
go back and tell them it's OBD1
