Default Just picked up a new car...

04 corvette auto black for $16k. 50k miles and a few options. Hud that I know of. Didn't get a manual with it so and I'm trying to figure out all of the creature comforts and whatnot.

Where is the best place to go for info's, how-to's, free mods, etc? I've been a Camaro guy for a long while and this thing is a complete foreign object to me. I'll post pictures later in the daylight

Free mods, not much. You can do a zip tie mod. You basically just remove your air box, add a kn, and zip tie it down. Takes about 5 minutes.

I'd put a vararam and LT's on the car to start with. Then, I would add a set of gears and a stall.

I've been reading some stuff. I did find out that I have a Z51 car with 3.15 gears so I guess that means I can lower it. A little any way.

The zip tie setup sounds a little ghetto to me, I'll just look for that Vararam you mentioned. Don't know about long tubes just yet. I know putting them in my Camaro's was a pain, this car looks a little more difficult to get in there. I still havent fully seen the bottom of the car. I got under there a little to see if it has made contact on the front bars and to see if it was leaking any fluid, but all looked good. I did find out the hard way I couldn't put my eclipse head unit in the car without it working 100%. I'd have to buy a $90 box for the subs to work and to have a "decent" sound from what I've read.

I guess I'll work my way over to corvetteforums.com and see what they've got....

I guess I already had an account there. I last logged in in 2004. Haha

Look on the inside of the glovebox door for all the options. And you can match the codes on the Vette web site. The zip tie mod does work but not as well as the vararam intake. The will see so of your best gains from the headers. Are you sure it's 3.15's ?if it a z51 it will be in the glovebox
I have a 02 z51 and it has 3.32's
I hope that helps. I have a hand held programmer for sale if you need it also

Yeah this site is good for buying used parts as all those old guys are constantly selling there stuff (going back to stock and changing things up). They go threw mods like it's crazy. But other than that and the occasional problem you will run in to and you need answers, the site blows and DO NOT GO TO CHUCK COW FOR ANYTHING The guy is a joke of a tuner and is a scam. That site protects all of the sponsors on there. So make sure you know who you are buying from if you get **** from a vendor on there. Most are fine there is just the occasional bad ones out there.

And I agree with above post get CAI and headers. Then gears and stall. And the header install is not that hard. Get a friend a 6 pack and about 4 free hours.

Headers on a C5 aren't that bad of a pain to install if you have 1 3/4" ones, they are just a pain in the wallet. $$$$$

there is a vette tax on everything.. be prepared.. CF is the best place to get all used parts. I saw a guy with a "used" complete Supercharger kit for a C5 for $2500 the other day... which is crazy cheap..

Is everything as far as VIN and correct RPO's valid info on that compnine website? If it is, then the 3.15's are what is in it. Sounds like an odd gear but whatever. I didn't think these cars had LS6 intakes on them unless they were Z's. I guess I'll dig up the part number.

How good is this "Competitive Driving" mode on these cars? Can't really find a whole lot of what it does except people saying that it is on the cars and "I do burnouts in that mode".

This is the only pic I have that I took this afternoon. Once I get it clean up a little more this weekend and ditch the body moldings and lower it a little, I'll post more.

Competitive driving has saved a lot of guys going in to the wall on these cars after they launch. You won't have a problem with the stock auto and hp level, but in higher hp cars, it is a good mode to keep your car in while drag racing.

So what exactly does it do? And I have GM part# 12573572 on the intake, so I guess it is an LS6 intake manifold.

Thanks for the compliments.

It turns off traction control but keeps active handling on. Basically, you can break the rear tires, but if the car starts to get sideways, it will help save the car.

Here is perhaps one of the best, if not the best c5/c6 drivers in the world at the 1/4 mile. He sits a top many of the fast lists for c5/c6 corvettes. Youtube his screenname and you will find a wealth of info, as well as on corvetteforum.
