altinator help (98-02 years) I can't get the alt to charge the batt. I ran a 12v hot constant to the green and the brown to ground. I have since learned I should have a 470 Ohm 1/2 watt resister with 8.2 volt output inline with the 12v constant.
now I have read that I should
1. Do the resistor thing with the "B" pim of the 4 wire plug.
2. run 12v constant to the "C" wire.
is this correct? and if so which is B and C?

My alternator in my 99 Trans Am only uses the brown wire and is located externally in relationship to the engine. There is a switched ignition wire that passes through the battery light in the instrument panel and connects to the exciter terminal on the alternator. When the alternator is working current simply passes through, but if it is not then the exciter terminal will ground the wire and illuminate the bulb. What you need is a 12 volt light bulb, not a resistor.
