Default LS1 rebuild

I have a 2000 LS1 that my son and I are dropping in a 51 chevy p/u. While the engine is out, I thought I would upgrade it a little. This is not going to be a track racer, just a street rod to drive around. It has 317 heads and the engine had around 90K miles on it. I was thinking of getting a set of 243 heads and upgrading the cam and maybe a fast intake. Any ideas without breaking the bank?

Sounds like your on the right track. Throw headers and a good exhaust on there if you don't already have it.....
