New LS1 Owners - Newbie Tech - I want more but I'm worried for my trans+rear

I have a 02 ws6 m6 dyno tuned with these mods:
Slp lid, paper filter
Ported stock TB w/coolant bypass
160 thermostat
Crank pulley, alternator pulley
ARH Offroad headers, ARH catted Y
Slp loudmouth 2
UMI: adj. panhard bar, lower control arms + relocation brackets
BMR boxed weld-in subframe connectors
MGW shifter
On a mustang dyno it put down 336rwhp/335rwtq

and I thought it would be enought to keep me content for a while but it's not lol I don't want gears, I love the 3.42's so what would be the next thing I could do? Cam it?

What's messed up is after all these mods I don't feel much power difference. I did have a catback and lid already with a hypertech tune but I thought it would be a huge jump with the headers but it isn't really. That's about the only go fast part I did was the headers, but i'm glad I did the suspension upgrades, the car drives amazing now. I just want more and I'm thinking a cam would do it.

I'm scared for my trans though, should it be able to hold a big cam or 400 rwhp? The last run I did the shifter got stuck in 4th gear!!!!

There should have been a big noticable difference after the headers.A good cam will give u 30-40 more rwhp but will need to be tuned again. The tranny should hold up but if its a stock clutch that may go.

I know but for some reason, I can't feel a big difference after the headers. Honestly it feels about the same.

When it was on the hypertech tune and I did all the mods it felt killer-power felt right from 1krpm. The difference between the baseline dyno and the final dyno run was only 13hp/tq. My tuner says he made a few adjustments before the first run and the hypertech was still in it so that's why I didn't get much after the tune. It felt like I lost power under 2k rpms but I think it's because he leaned it out a little.

I let my brother drive it after all the work and he says it's a huge difference though, maybe it's just me :( but up top it feels incredible. Maybe it's true what they say about 1 7/8 headers being weaker on the low end of the curve the 1 3/4 headers.

Either way I'm thinking cam + bottle.....

Hypertech hand tuners work petty good. That is the only tune my car has and w/a few bolt-on's it runs 11.88@113.

Well thats good to know because the gain was so low from hypertech to a custom dyno tune....

I'm kind of in the same boat as you. A lot of mods and still not really feeling it. No headers yet, trying to find something worth the money that will still pass CA smog.

I spray a 120 shot, and run with ET streets. No spray in 1st gear and its still pretty hard to keep the wheel spin down, I think the 3.42s are fine, 3.73s would make it worse.

Mine's a 98 and I think the next mod will be an LS6 manifold and some shorty headers, maybe a street legal y-pipe... Again, the smog check.

My buddy picked up a 2008 GT500, I want to beat him with a paid off car while he is making $700 payments.

BTW, my rearend is still fine... It makes some clunks every once in a while, but it was noisy even when it was brand new. The stock clutch is long gone, I don't even remember what I replaced it with, a Kartech??. I also removed the restriction in the hydraulic clutch line when we did the clutch. I'd highly recommend you do that while its apart. You might have different results, mines a 98, only 34k miles on it. Its on the 4th set of rear tires if that gives you an idea how hard I am on it.

And especially for the money, I had better gains with ET Streets than I did with the Nitrous.

could u use a hand held hypertech tuner if u put a cam in it and be ok or no? had a hypertech on my 00 silverado 5.3 and felt some power and more pull but messin with the trans shift points helped a lot too

No you need a dyno tune with a cam. It takes a lot of fine adjustments to driveability to get it just right.

Well I like to race my car and I want to keep from rebuilding my trans and ivesting in a new rear for at least over the winter.

So far, I've added a tick master to the next mod. That should save me from destroying the trans shifting at 6k rpm right?
