38,000 miles, 2006 C6 Z06, I broke a valve spring leaving the track last Sunday. I was at 1800RPMS in 6th, on the highway and I felt it give out. I killed the engine and towed it home. Popped off the old valve cover to find this:

I heard word today that the Piston is okay, I have decided to leave the bottom end alone and spend that "money" towards a new block.

SO, heads and cam for now!

Look for my 200ft drift after the warm up lap, notice the cars on slicks, once they get to operating temp, they are FAST. I also force a 7k downshift following a buddy into a corner at his speed, which did not help the valve spring :(

Car made 494/474 before internals.

Heads + Cam + FAST102 + Fuel system = ___ / ___

God that sucks. I dropped a valve on my 03 at 6400 rpm...even cracked my block. Just build it back even stronger

Yeah, I saw the 620, was it wheel or engine dyno?

Anyways, I don't need 620 for this car, it needs full throttle at corner exit!

550 will do just fine, shit, 500 was awesome!

Yeah tore my clutch up at the track few weeks ago......I didnt break a valvespring but i need heads fast intake and throttle too haha.....Hoping for 600 to the wheels! Let us know what you put down!

there are lots of cam cars doing that with the 427. Its not hard.

I'm putting 551 with a cam and fast 102 and headers through an auto. We think it's about 680 at the crank due to the loss in the auto tranny.

Cam, heads, headers, intake 620 rwhp is pretty easy on these bad boys.

Yeah, at 4:39 I hit 7k on a forced downshift, I was following a Z06 with slicks, I had too much speed.

It was a combo of 38k miles, ME and the downshifting which killed it.

It did NOT break until later in the day, I drove the car many times after I over revved it and it was fine.

O WELL, things happen for a reason, more power here we come!

Yeah you can hit it but you have to use a mostrosatus cam....I used to want to hit a big whp number, i just dont wanna sacrafice that mid range power....Solid 590 wheel with a good mid range in a c6z is a fast sob...The lingenfelter cam they are using for these big numbers (i think gt-22) is over 670 lift(The springs themselves are 800 bucks) Just seems like it would be a turd out the hole and you would have to launce it way to hard at the track.....

My air horns are for my car alarm but my dumbshit installer put it there next to the oil tank. I had them in the left fender of my C5Z, see pic below.

The shifter is the LG with Delrin.

Well it was my was my second day of school today for college. As I pull out of the parking lot I get on it a bit (only to about 4k) on this straight away. Well it was all loud as hell and sounded mean until I turn on the next street and my car starts running like crap. So im thinking what the hell is going on. So I pull over check the coil packs spark plug wires and o2 sensors and see nothing wrong and to make it worse it's 100 degrees.

So I call a buddy and we both agree it's probably bent Push Rod or maybe even a broken Valve Spring. So I get home and start ripping everything apart and yep it was correct broke a valve spring, just my luck on my second day of school. So went to GM and ordered a new one. Im doing a cam swap in the next 2 weeks but I am waiting till I get my Daily Driver for school or else I would do it now but with school and all I need my car back up fast. I would put my after market valve springs in there but I don't have them yet (still shipping). Would have been a perfect time to do it as well.


And btw you C6Z looks badass.......I just jizzed btw!

I go to McLennan Community College was gonna go to TCC but my parents just moved to Waco so im helping my dad out here with the new house and everything. I just got out of the Marines so im getting my basics knocked out at a CC.

And my car has 48k. And yeah man nothing is more sexier than a black vette!

And yeah I can't wait to get my DD im tired worrying about my car at school there is a lot of dumb careless mother fuckers there when it comes to there vehicles.

My heads are at Greg Good (viper guy) , I'm being told they can get 400cfm from my LS7 heads.....:eyes:....show me the numbers! I don't believe that....

If i knew my car was going to be down for a total of 30+ days i would have went ahead and done the whole bottom end....Sometimes i think it is better to try and do everything at one shot these days you know....Only drawback is this big ass bill waiting on you:barf: I could not imagine only having one or two cars and not having my car for that long.........

this is one of the reasons why I work on my own stuff. My bro sent out his stock 243 heads to be ported/polished and a 5 way angle valve job. Took less then a week and only cost $300. That includes putting on dual valve springs and new valve seals. Got the heads back and they looked great. I would do the same thing if I got a C6Z, if and when I would do a huge cam package to it, lol!

Hope you both get your cars back running soon!

My Car will NOT be treated like a typical "customer" which I'm OKAY with.

My cost are CHEAPER but it takes longer this way...trust me...I WANT TO GO FAST!

ok guys i got my car back today! I will post graphs tonight when i get off work. wcch cnc ls7 heads, lgx4 cam, ported fast 102 w/the new nw throttle body, kooks 1 7/8, and k&n cai. Car made 575rwhp sae/585 std 511torque sae/520std. Before heads intake and throttle body car made 535sae/545std and 483sae/492 std with the total sae gains of 40 rwhp and 28 ftpd torque..... Dyno is extremely accurate and conditions were almost 97 degrees with 39% humidity...I know i could have made more power going with a larger cam but this car is a street machine and i am really happy with the torque gains.....Spec twin disc clutch drives crazy nice.....will post graphs asap!

UPDATE:

My HEADS HAVEN'T even been touched...of course...they will be ONE - OFF heads which is kindoff cool.

I'm being told they are shooting for 415-420CFM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am skeptical but positive!!!

All I know is, MORE MODS HERE I COME.

I'm saving for DRY SUMP and SEATS and ROLL CAGE.
