Question Arp Rod bolts...

OK so I am in the middle of changing heads and cam on a 99 5.3. I also decided to switch out to arp rod bolt while I had the motor down. I was searching around and now I have more questions than when i started. Here they are:

1-what should i torque them to?
2-what increments?
3-do I have to modify anything/ remove anything?
4-I saw a write up by someone else and they said it was important not to remove both bolts at the same time, i was hoping to be able to drop them and check out bearing but i will refrain if it may mess something up?
5- Anything else that I may have over looked(newbee question sorry but i would rather ask now than when i mess up something)?

Thanks for your time any help is greatly appreciated!

I am sure the ARP tech line should be able to answer all of those but probably not outside of normal business hours. Someone posted it all not too long ago. I will look around for it.

Like the write-up says it depends on what bolts you go with. Those guys went with Kateck, but obviously the doesnt help you. Hope this does.

Yeh i here you i am also debating on my rod bolts , want to change them because i do have the weaker version in my 2000 silverado that is SC, i know i can get the kaytec bolts and bolt them there with no resizing well that is what they say anyway but they are close to $200 and i do have a set of arp premium ls1 bolts that i picked up for $98 at summits but i am not sure if i can install them without resizing because i want to do this from the bottom of my truck , i think i will start a thread on this subject because i am stuck , Eric

Here's a size comparison from stock to ARP 8740's. Not the same.

Of course it's not the same...that ARP bolt isn't even for the same rod.

Stock LSx rod bolt is an M9. That looks like a 3/8" ARP bolt.

It's A 7/16" ARP bolt, but anyways kinda messed up my plan of take those that came with my eagle rods and putting them in my spare motor with the stock rods. Ohh well... some one will buy them.

Ok so if i do decide to install the arp rod bolts without resizing wont there be a balancing issue , i am sure the arp rod bolts are heavier or it wouldnt make a differnce to worry about , i have an ls1 block that i want to rebuild eventually so i think i am going to try the bolts on the rods and see if they distort the bearings , i think i will start a thread on this , Eric
