Default Stock Z28 times?

I am in a funny argument on failbook about a Z28 not being able to run a 12 second pass....... the kid wrote this back to me:

"i hear what your sayin dude. but look im tellin ya there just isnt a stock camaro or firebird that does 12s dude. unless u got like god behind the wheels on a 80%humid day but with 50degrees outside or some bullshit like that, at a track liek E-Town too where its prepped way better than most other track lol."

Does anyone have a video of a stock Z28 going 12s? I tried searching stock times but it comes up stock bottom end and such Thanks

he is basically right.

given that criteria - without great weather and a sticky track, a truly stock ls1 fbod isn't going 12s. they are very, very rare.

How about this article? I'm not sure if this came from MM&FF or 5.0 but either way it's pretty interesting.

EDIT - did a Google search on the author J.C. and it appears he writes for MM&FF so I assume it came out of that magazine, not 100% but just putting 2+2 together.

a stock ls1 can run 12s but it takes a very skilled driver from i know about them.

I went 13.36 w/ a auto bone stock @ 88 degrees and in cooler weather it would have been faster.

I would agree with him it's not everyday you hear of a stock ls1 running 12's. Mine went 13.7's and other i have seen done similar or worse.

My Z28, well wasn't bone stock, had SLP Lid with FRA, Diablo programmer and MT ET Streets, and well good air (Dec 09) and that was it. Went 12.92 @ 106.91. 4L60E car. Car did dyno 2 months before, all stock minus the dirty K&N at 317hp and 330 some tq. Car is a 2000 also, still got the shitty EGR tube hanging behind the TB.

No uploaded vid, but a timeslip:

Yes, 12s can be had with a bone stock LS1 F-body.

how many TBSS's ran 13.49 @102+ bone stock? 3 that i know of, one being mine... out of how many thousands that run 14's?? It's just not the norm..

what would you say is average for an fbody? 13.3 for an Ls1?

so i have to agree with the OP's argument. it can be done because it has BEEN done, but that don't make it normal lol.
