Co-Workers 550i vs my 02 ws6 REMATCH!
I went to the track for the first time in years about a month ago.
My Co-worker owns a 2007 550i bone stock and I have an m6 02' WS6 bone stock 85k miles and just did a full tune up (plugs/wires/fuel filter/oil)
We were able to run heads up 5 times and he beat me 3 times out of the 5.
His best time of the night then was 14.3 @ 102mph.
My best time was 13.6 @ 108 that night (Launched at 1200rpm)
The problem was launching the car on street tires. I know drag radials are necessary for full potential, but i was just trying to have a bit of fun without spending any money and keeping my 10 bolt in one piece. I also noticed on some of my runs I was locked out of 3rd and 4th gear, WHY?
Tomorrow is the big rematch!!!
Since then I've added:
1)a Lou's Short stick to help with shifting quicker
2)GMMG Exhaust from Madhammer
3)SLP lid with K&N filter if that helps any
4)welded in subframe connectors
Anything I can do to run consistent low 13's on street tires????
With my new mods I am hoping for at least a 13.4
I've heard some people mention: leaving in 2nd gear, not launching from higher than 3k, not doing a burn out at all *wetbox*,
any other tips or little tricks to stay focused and to maximize every run??

The BMW did a best of 14.2 I believe and he was stock then as well. My car should win if I can get half decent traction. I believe he may have had some type of tune since and new tires.

I got him!!!
I was able to pull out a 13.7@ 108mph with a shitty 2.3 60ft to his 14.43 @ 102mph.
I think if I had some DR's and some slick shifting I could get high 12's in ideal weather.
We were only able to run heads up once because the track was so damn packed.
There were two interesting cars out there last night. Some kid had a GTR that was stock down to the tires and he was running 11.8's @ 120 on two of his runs that I saw.
There was also an automatic 2011 5.0 Mustang that was cutting 12.2-12.5 on street tires. Not bad for a stock car.
There were way too many mustangs their last night. This was at Sacramento Raceway out here in Cali if anyone was wondering.

I knew those cars would eventually run qucker than the bone stock 12.5s we've seen so far but I didn't think it would be until late fall/early winter.

When i ran my car i got schooled by a hot chick with a stock new 5.0 with dr's and she went 12.5@115 with no visible mods so a tune at most dont know but she sure was hot

i would get some nittos-400 and a UD pulley 200 and a ported tb 100 and you should get your 12 sec pass
but if you have the money i would buy a money maker nitrous kit for that LS6 intake

Oh ok, it had tuning as well, that makes more sense, still damn fast.
Not to state the obvious or anything but a car certainly can't be "bone stock" and also "tuned" at the same time.
That's almost like saying: "this is a hamburger but it's also a hot dog" LOL.
I suppose that it's possible but again being tuned is also not being bone stock.

Unless you have complete crap tires work on your 60'. Have you been to the track much before? Just keep making passes, take notes of what works and what doesn't. Play with launch points, tire pressure, and keep track of the DA or at least outside temp. Get you and the car working together correctly before throwing a bunch of parts at it.
