i was told if i replaced my non vented opti than i would need to get a new cap and rotor. but doesnt the cap and rotor wear out faster than the opti itself?

A new opti comes fully assembled with a new cap and rotor. Not sure I understand the question.

I wouldn't think so, not if it is "slightly used."

You can actually buy the two separate pieces, but most are sold together. If you only bought the opti, and not the whole thing, I would get an MSD cap and rotor. You're already in there, why not.

I have only seen a new Opti not fully assembled when it was bought from somewhere like Autozone, where you can buy a reman.
