Default suggested header and catted y-pipe?

Hey all I'm trying to help my friend who recently got a 94 Z28 with when he wants to do headers and a catted y-pipe...for now I believe hes gonna go with a magnaflow exhaust but just curious what headers and catted y-pipe are considered good (i.e. ones that fit well, coated, and he wants to retain having cat(s)) when he wants to upgrade down the road? (I own a 96 Impala SS so im def in the LT1 scene but I don't know the good F-body LT1 stuff)

I don't believe anyone makes a catted y-pipe for longtubes. I just bought the off road y and put cats in it. Pacesetters coating sucks so don't waste your money on that. Their slip fit collectors are a pain to get apart if you ever have to. If budget is not a problem Kooks stainless are a good choice. Otherwise Jethot coated Hookers would be my second choice. Here are pics of my cattted y-pipe

Ok so what about mid-length headers? are they're some that are considered good? as in fitment, coated, and work with a catted y-pipe? Much loss in HP/torque gains with only going with mid-lengths over longtubes?

I am getting ready to change up my exhaust and am going to be selling a set of emissions long tube pacesetters, and y pipe with magnaflow hi flow bullet cats in each leg of the y and v bands at the collectors. I am also getting rid of a magnaflow 3" stainless catback with corsa clones out back. Where are you located?

Hey:

If he is willing to do mods the Ebay stainless steel or LPP 321 Stainless headers, just add cats to the y. If going Kooks get the 1 3/4" not the stepped ones, as the LPP and Ebay clones are very much like the stepped Kooks at 1/3rd the price, with the same install issues.

Unless they've quit, Kooks does make a catted y-pipe.

I can say that my 1 3/4" Kooks went in without issue.

Buy what ever LT header you want and get two hi flow cats. Weld them up to the collectors, run the y pipe from there to the single going to the rear of the car.
