Aluminum skinned 4th gens?
Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone here recalled which speed shop here in the US was buying up the really low mileage 4th gen camaros and fitting them with wicked drivetrains as well as replacing most of the exterior with aluminum replacement panels? Sorry, lengthy....but it's killing me trying to figure this out! wanting to contact them soon for some panels my self, I do remember that they were in a Chevy High Performance and other GM related mags....Much thanks in advance!

Not W2W, thats what I thought at first too. Uh, the cars were being bought and purchased around late '03 to early '04 and yes the front clip on the car was replaced with aluminum skinned panels and the entire rear body structure was replaced with aluminum counterparts....I have search through all my mags and must have lost the issue, Camaro Performer or Super Chevy?

Agreed. I don't understand why you would want Aluminum skins in the front of the car. Wouldn't they just weigh it down? I know the fenders and bumper cover on my WS6 are Plastic and the hood is Fiberglass which doesn't add up to the same weight if they were aluminum.

The only thing I can think of are the Dick Harrell cars, but they were 'glassed panels. Now, the car they were based off of was a steel-bodied version GM did that paid homage to the Sunoco #6. Is it possible that's what you're thinking of? I think it was a combined effort of Berger Chevrolet and GMMG.
