Arrow I come to the alter of LS engine guru's to get some question i have answered.....

Ok i have a 99 LM7 short block that i am going to have done over at the machine shop including boring it out to LS1 spec's. I am going to be reusing the stock 5.3 internals (crankshaft, rods). I will be ordering custom push rods once i get the block back and measure it out. I have listed some engine details below.

LM7 Block bored to LS1 spec's
LS6 cam
99 Port and polished 5.3 heads
Stock LS1 pistons
LS1 intake will be upgrading to LS6 intake when i can
LS7 lifters
stock injectors

I am not looking for big hp numbers, all i want to know if this setup will work together without eating itself.

Thank you LS engine gods... A men

I have searched and searched for answers but no real answers....

That is a really mild build. I wouldn't think you would have any problems.

Have you weighed the costs of just picking up a block that is all ready to go vs. having machine work done to the LM7?

No "problems" as such, with your build, but you might consider going with forged pistons on the stock rods/crank for an extra margin of safety if you later decide to push it.

you could just get a set of ls1 rods/pistons together, saves some work getting them installed. Low mileage sets on here go reasonably cheap.

With the extra compression of the 5.3 heads/ls1 bore you really should consider a slightly bigger cam. Theres aftermarket cams that let you use ls6 springs in the for sale section that should help wake up your build.

Looks like a good setup to me. Just make sure you get the LS6 cam installed around 112 on the intake. Should make great power and have a hint of chop in it.

I would consider that the 240, being a light weight car, you may want to use an aluminum block to keep your weight distribution good. Otherwise looks like a solid build.
