T/A LED Taillights
I thought I read a post on here somewhere about someone found (or saw) custom taillights for 98+ TA's where the lighting was done by LED's, one red LED in each "octagon", Instead of the regular incadescant bulb lighting. That would be way cool, especially if a circuit was built to "cascade" the lights outward when hitting the brakes or turn signals. Anyone?

It does indeed sound cool, but it would use alot of power wouldnt it? You might need another battery in the rear or something, i'm not sure, and thi is all speculation though.

LED's require little power and last a very long time. The factory electrical system should be enough. Plus you wouldn't have to worry about replacing burnt out bulbs for a long long time.

Re: T/A LED Taillights
If I can't find someone who already makes them, I'll see if I can built some myself. Of course, they'll be just standard taillights, where all the LED's light up at once, kinda like those new Cadillac taillights, because it'll take me awhile to design a circuit. If I get enough interest in it after I build some functional units, I might start building some for anyone interested.

There is a place that sells the kits to make the sequential turn signals. cant remember the name of it but go to yahoo.com and search on "sequential tailights"....i think its the first one it brings up...

Re: T/A LED Taillights
I had that LED idea myself about a year ago. Someday I'm gonna try to make one, unless I can find one for sale.

At http://www.sequentialturnsignals.com/ they say the tail lights go into the sequence lighting when your on the brake too. I guess htat seems kind of obvious now that I think of it, but I'm not sure I'd like that. People would probably think its some weird sort of hazard light or something.

As already answered, the sequential tailights come on instantly when pushing the brake pedal and do not continue to blink, however, when you use your hazards they continue to blink.
The idea about LED tailights would be very expensive to make. Even if you did come up with a circuit board with an LED for every octagon, how would you mount it inside the tailight. I agree this would be REALLY cool, but I just dont see it happening.
The only alternative would be to get the 3157 replacement bulbs that have LEDS in them. APC makes some that you can get at Pep Boys, but those are crap. They only light up a little dot in the middle of your tailight and would make your brake lights near impossible to see in the daytime.
There is another company that makes a 3157 replacement LED light that has lights on the side too, and has a much more dispersed light pattern, but theyre like $48 EACH!!!!
I REALLY like LED lights and think if done correctly would be badass, but I just dont see it happening.

Re: T/A LED Taillights
I also have the sequential tail lights. Very cool. Available for T/A, Camaros and eeeheemm mustangs. They flash once when you hit the brakes but when you have your hazards or signal light on, they flash continuously. Get the full install, better effect than the basic. I'm still running the basic install. The rest of the parts are in the trunk. Got a dremel, just need the time to finish up the rest of the install. It is very different though. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Re: T/A LED Taillights
I still dont quite get the difference between the basic install and the FULL install. Can someone tell me what the difference is? I read the install instructions and don't know what they are trying to accomplish with the dremel, etc. Are we just looking for somewhere to mount (place) the new module? Thanks in advance.
