Does the M/T ET Streets (bias-ply) require inner tubes? If so I guess I'll be getting the Hoosier DOT drag radials...

No, they do not require tubes. However, if you do any amount of street driving, use the tubes. I ran them without for quite awhile, until I hit a pot-hole which blew out the sidewall, rolled the tire over the rim, and ruined my Weld wheel.

I think at your power level a drag radial would be more beneficial than a bias ply anyway.

At least the QTP's state on the side wall that a tube must be used. If a tire shop sees this they may refuse to mount the tires unless they have a tube.

you should use a tube unless your car is under 3000 pounds and you're footbraking. the sidewall is too soft. i dunno how much power you're making, but if you do throw a tube in it i'd put screws in it as well

I was thinking about the M/T 26x11.5-17 for my ZR1's. I just want to hook. The M/T drag radials are not doing it for me, and yes I will be foot-braking...

i remember now... you're the hard on for hotcam character. if you can't hook up on ANY size m/t radial the tire aint the problem... trust me. i've seen a local gto run bottom tens on that 17" mt radial with 550rwhp full weight... 1.5x 60' which aint bad on that IRS crap on the slip n slide launch pads we have here. that badhawk dude is going wheels up on a 17" hoosier radial. ****, a few years back there was a dude on here with a white t/a running 10s full weight and yanking 18" fronts on crappy 18" bfg radials.

If that's the case everyone needs to sell there slicks/skinny's and get some bfg radials. Are those dudes on stock suspension? I should be able to hook on stock suspension with a real good tire. I am stuck between the M/T bias-ply and the Hoosier Radials. Those guys that you named would probably see better results with a better tire combo. The only good tire you named was the Hoosier, but is the M/T bias ply better? The M/T's are 26in tires and the Hoosiers are 25in tires...

With a A4 you should be able to hook a DR with a few suspension mods. M6 almost need a Bias ply tire to work as well. Go to the drag race section and read Ramairs DR thread.

i have always ran tubes in soft sidewall tires on the street..

the bigger the tire the more need to do it.. its a safety concern, not if the tire will hold air concern..

People have gone 7's on a 275 drag radial.. OP, pretty sure the tire is not your problem.

Thursday night at the track I pulled off a 1.65 60 ft on Mickey Thompson 255/50r16 drag radials. I even managed to pull up my front driver side wheel a few inches. What psi are you running them at? I was between 20 and 17 psi throughout the night.

I usually start at 20psi and go down to 17 then 15 and see which one gives me the best 60'. 17 was my magic number (on these tires). I also have suspension work so there's more adjustment there.
