Default grey wire truck alternator

I have an 06 LQ9 wire harness with a brown wire and a grey wire going to the alternator. I switched to a 4 pin S-10 alternator (I think the it has the same plug as a 3rd gen) It has only 1 wire. Do I need the grey wire? It is # 75 on PCM, and says it is "generator field duty signal". If I do need it can I put it in my new 4 pin plug and which spot in the plug?
Thanks for any help

You don't need it. You will need to turn off the F-Term related check engine lights in your PCM though.
