Default Just a couple ?s on 91 s10 with ls1 swap

Ok im buying parts for the truck and what im wanting to know is on the transmission what are yall running? i want to run a th350 but what tailshaft is best? i know a longtail will fit perfectly on a fbody..but will it fit the same for a s10 ....... and what about the trans crossmember what are you guys doing for that?


can anyone tell me what exactly this is? 6010 - MSD Ignition Controller for GM EFI/Carbureted LS Engines is this all i need to start the truck up or what exactly do i need

well considering that most s-10's had 700r4 trans why not use one if them? it could be put in the same position as the 4.3 v6 model and use their drive shaft and everything?

well im not big on the 700 or the 4l60e im more of a th350 guy plus its going to be a track only truck so thats why im going with that trans. and i dont have a 700 right now in it its a 5 spd

i have a turbo 350 short tail shaft and i had a custom driveshaft made.

Is the 700r the same length as a longtail th350

i believe so. there are 3 different tailshaft legnths. 6", 9" and 12"

Thats what i was thinking if a 700 can fit behind a fbody without any mods then the th350 longtail will work out great for it no problem........ looks like i have a bit more research to keep doing...... is there any special crossmember i have to use for the transmission to work?

depends on where you locate the motor in the engine bay. i made custom mounts so i didnt have to move the 700r4. i believe t5 trans crossmembers and auto crossmembers are located differently. if memory is correct, manual equipped trucks have the crossmember closer to the front, about 4" forward. really depends on where your mounts place the motor
