Default Fluid out the vent tube?

1998 GMC Jimmy, 4l60e.

Fluid is coming out the transmission vent tube in the engine bay while I'm driving, which falls onto the exhaust, making a big stinky smoke cloud. I've been keeping an eye on the fluid and topping it off when needed.

I've read that this could be caused by a clogged cooler and/or cooler lines. I haven't checked this yet, but in the event there is a clog, I need to know what parts to buy.

I was just going to replace the whole system with new aftermarket tubing and lines. What fittings do I need to screw into the transmission that I can clamp hoses to? If anyone has done this, or can give some advice, I would greatly appreciate it.

More common is a 1870 DTC - converter not locking up causing the trans to run hot.

I got my info from a car I worked on that was puking fluid out of the vent, the owner said it was locking up....it wasn't. I fixed the problem, it locked up, stopped puking fluid.

Ok, well, just to make sure, at 60mph in OD, I'm at about ~1800rpm, and at 70mph I'm at ~2050rpm. Does that sound about right with a stock truck TC? (Not trying to sound offensive if I came off that way, I appreciate the input)

Pretty close. Using my calculation, and assuming the typical truck like yours has 3.42 gears and 28" tall tires those numbers come almost right on.

A better test would be to drive when you think the converter is locked up and push the gas a little more, not enough to unlock it, then tap the brake pedal and look at the tach.

X2. Use/borrow a scan tool and take a long drive. Check the tcc slippage and fluid temp.

Well, I did the tap the brake test earlier today, just to make sure, and the TC is definitely locking up. There is a ~2-300rpm difference with lockup. I'm going to be taking it to a shop soon, well see how quickly they recommend I rebuild it lol.
