Default Engine coming together but small problem...

I ran into a small problem... The damn sprocket bolt washers are in the way and I can't get the optispark in... Any one sell an aftermarket bolt set, or should I just take off the washers?

Now my problem.... !!!

Don't use those bolts. Use an ARP cam bolt designed for that purpose. Cam bolts have a smaller hex head that clears the optispark cloverleaf. That looks like run of the mill grade 8 hardware.

Something like this:

I ran into the same problem and came up with the same solution.

Or GM's dedicated bolts; they're different to allow the needed clearance.

Those bolts look like that they would actually clear without the washers.

Well **** put the bolts on and opti does not sit flush. It stops about an 1/8 of an inch before sitting flush with block. It will sit flush if I put some muscle on it but I feel this should not forced on in any way... Well it hurt if I take a little of the top of the ARP bolts?

The dowel pin is supposed to protrude about .620" from the cam face.

Well it turned out to be the cam bolts... What I did is stick something in the cavity where the dowel pin goes and measured how long it was and then compared it to the dowel pin. I had about 1/8" before dowel would bottom out... So I took off the bolts one by one and ground them down some more... After that the base of the opti sits nice and flush. I appreciate your help guys. Been so long I forgot how this thing goes back together....
