I figured I'd share a little something the rest of my fellow drag racers would appreciate!!! I recently pulled my hvac system and I'm getting my car ready to go to the dyno. So I decided to change the plugs before work today and start to finish it only took 30min!!! Gotta love a clean simple engine bay!!! :D

I have doing spark plug changes for years in 30-35 minutes and I still have my heat and AC. If you get rid of all the emissions stuff, relocate your coils and are running headers you can do it in 30 minutes all the time. On these 95 degree days in the sunny south I prefer to have a functioning AC system... :D

ya but are you using special wrenches? or custom bent ones?

Just a 3/8" ratchet, 3" extension, and a spark plug socket.

30mins, is not that bad, with gapping and everything. at newera i used to do it on the dyno on hot cars is less.

thanks to the guys that -forgot- they had tr55 and it would break up 1st pull hitting 150-250hp. of the guys to cheap to buy new plugs while getting heads, or headers or somthing. know they set would be fine, then later remebed they have 60k on that set.

my car is super easy, pin on hood = great light, and you stand along the cowl, no hood struts, no havac. having stock coil brakets i think is easy, you can leave the wires on the coils, just pop them off the plugs. take the whole thing off as a ocapus, even easier when you only run 4 coil braket bolts. race headers, no abs, and tube kmember.

spending 150 hours rebuilding your stockish car, so its 5-30mins easer to work on is somthing, use guys that like working on the car do.:D

+ 1 on the hvac delete cleans up the engine bay and makes working on the car that much easier.

30 minutes seem kinds long no? I change them at the track all the time (pre-gapped) and it takes me less than that.
Either way, No HVAC makes a HUGE difference. You'll be down to 20 min in no time. :D

The 30min included gapping the plugs too. And this thread was not meant to start a contest on who can change their plugs the fastest. I just figured the guys that hang out in this section would appreciate the hours of work we go through pulling/deleting unnessisary parts to make working on these cars so much easier.

I'll see your 30 minute spark plug changes and raise you 30 minute head changes! (I wish my 4th gen bay was this exposed)
