Default Please help me with building fuel system for Mustang LSx Swap (Pictures Inside)

Okay, I am building my fuel system from scratch. Want to go -8AN feed and -6AN return. -8AN might be a bit overkill for the current setup, but I would rather not have to rebuild the entire system when it comes time for big HP. I would like you guys to look at what I have listed and see if you can find anywhere that I can save a little cash. This setup right here (minus the fuel cell as I already have it) is coming in right at $400 which is a bit more then I had planned. I have broken it down with how I plan to run the system and included pictures of the fittings so any errors will be easy to catch, I am running a 10 gallon cell, Walbro 255 external, C5 Filter/Regulator. Thanks in advance!

why do you need the fuel cell? Can you use the stock tank? I have -6 feed and -5 return, C5 filter, -6 aluminum tubing to fire wall. Modified the stock pick up to accept -6 AN.

Use a -6 union and get rid of the line between the pump and regulator

I'll recommend push-loc/twist-tite hose over braided

It is less $ and much easier to work with

My system I just finished up is

15 gallon cell
2 -8an from sump to y block
-10an from y through 100 micron filter
into Fuelab 1300hp pump
-10 to aeromotive regulator
-8 return to cell

What are your goals for the car? If your spending this much might as well go aeromotive filters and after market rails. I planed the same, then realized im going to need to upgrade anyways so why not buy it right the first time.

With the C5 filter/reg combo Id recommend using AN6 instead of AN8. The ID is constantly jumping up/down at every part

Wow, thanks for the help.

My short-term goal is to see first see how fast I can get a stock LQ9 to go in a super light/very setup coupe.

From there I am either going to go forced induction (which is why I want to run all the line with -8AN so I wont have to replace EVERYTHING, or I might ditch the 817's and put a set of L92's and a carb (ditch the c5 filter and put a regular regulator on it).

Two things:

1- I like the idea of ditching the hose between the pump and the regulator, this is exactly the kind of information I was looking for. For some reason I did not even think about having 10MM to -6AN to a -6AN union, to the -6AN inlet on the filter. It will make mounting the pump more difficult, but shouldn't be a problem.

2- Can the Twist-Tite hose be ran the full length of the car? I know that plain rubber hose cannot (at least most sanctioning bodies do not allow it). If so is it like S/S line in the sense that you can run it the full length as long as you have at least 16in of steel protection over it around the bellhousing area?

Also, will the Twist-Tite hose ends work with regular AN fittings? I know the Russel ends for the regulator seem to be the only ones out there for the C5 setup so I would need to go from -8AN Twist-Tite to a Twist-Tite hose end to the Russel -6AN fitting.

Thanks!

Depending on how how long your longer term is run either a returnless 6 an setup[Not sure how return less would work on your setup] or 8an to 6an return. with the first you can add the 8 later and keep the 6 for the return.

No clue on the twist tite so can't help you there.

Check the fueling board for more info, but AN6 should support all but ridiculous amount of power, even with forced induction

You may want to mount the regulator in the engine bay near or on the fuel rails for ease of adjustment
