84 C10 short/wide 5.3 install
Well, I have the body work about done, the engine bay all painted up, the motor and tranny dropped in and the interior soundproofed is where i am at. I am going to include some pics of the project up to this point. I am paranoid about the torque converter getting installed correctly so i am going to drop the transmission and redo it.
here are some pics...enjoy.
truck was blue, now here it is in primer...doing body work.
motor is out of a 99 silverado 1500, had a 4l60e built for it, schoenfeld headers, and going to make a cai. I am running a walbro 255 and am wondering which fuel filter i should get for it.

fuel tank
cdime. i like it. my '87 c10 5.3/4l60e swap is complete, but im building a l92 headed lq4 with custom cam. i used a 2002 corvette fuel filter regulator. it has (1) feed line to the fuel rails. the fuel rail used has no return line. the regulator returns the excess fuel back to the tank. wix has a inexpensive($35) unit for sale. there is a vendor that has the same regulator ($130). buy the wix. hope this helps. also what welder r u using and would u recommend it. good luck and keep wrenchin'.

yeah optimus prime dynomat...my buddies have been busting my chops on that stuff lol...it is FATMAT, i got it off ebay, it is butyl rubber and it is sticky as hell and works real good, and is easy to work with. I did the inside firewall and the whole cab for like 80 bucks and still have a little left over.
the welder i am using is a miller 140, millermatic. it came with 30 wire but i switched it out for 24 for the body work, it works like a champ. It is good for body work but you can still build roll cages and stuff with it,,it penetrates good for a 110 jobber. I am building a new crossmember with it right now out of square thickwalled tubing and it is going together great with excellent penetration.
the plans for the truck from the begining where to drop it, put in a vortec and 4l60e and make it a daily driver.
so i started by getting the djm 3/4 kit and i installed that, i think i need to get some springs for the front and a flip kit for the rear to bring it down a little more since they ride so high from the factory. I also installed new djm shocks on it too.
beyond that i am totally redoing all the body work and going with mulsanne blue metallic with a black interior.
the 99 motor i have has a built in regulator on the fuel rail so i have to run one supply and one return line and put a fuel filter inline. richmond makes some efi fuel filters from summit, but i need a high flow so i do not burn out my pump.

satis- the headers are schoenfeld long tubes that can be found at their website..they are the ls1 truck headers. they come black, and they can ceramic coat them for 250 dollars, i requested mine uncoated, and had them coated in town.
swt, thanks!

are you running an in tank fuel pump or in line? Did you have to modify the tank at all? I am thinking about doing a swap in my jeep and trying to figure out what is involved with fuel system. have heard a lot of good about the walbro with corvette filter regulator.

no bending or shaving involved. i used the dirty dingo mounts.
as far as fuel pump i am running an external walbro 255 392...have yet to mount it. regulator is built onto the fuel rail on the 99 motor.
