Just wanted to see how many others have had problem(s) with arp bolts?

We were very cautious with our head reinstallation process and ensured clean bolt holes with use of thread cleaners and a air compressor. Double checked by using paper towels to ensure they were dry and clean.

I wasn't about to make the mistake of rushing a process that requires perfection.

Only one bolt snapped trying to remove the heads. I did notice that the bottom set of bolts were more tough to remove (closest to the exhaust ports) on both sides.

I have a nitrous kit with a 75 shot, maybe that was too much for the bolts and needed to get a stud kit?

Where did it snap off? Right at the block, in the block, or just the head?

Was this from a prior installation? What lube/torque was used and was the torque wrench calibrated?

Sounds like an installation error. A hotcam and a 75 shot is nowhere near too much for a head bolt

Torqued per the specs shipped with the bolts along with the lube.

There really isn't much to installing something as simple as this. Make sure surfaces and bolt holes are clean and follow the 3 step torque guide. It was very simple as I remember it.

Torque wrench was a husky that I picked up from home depot about 3 years ago when I installed the arp bolts.

I don't think calibration was an issue since the wrench was brand new when i used it.

Anything made by Husky in the last 5-8 yrs is complete junk.

That being said you were probably close. I've TQ'd head bolts up to 90 ft lbs before, so if you stayed around the 75 range like the instructions said I doubt you went over 90 lbs.

I've never had an ARP bolt snap, but nothing is perfect and no product on the planet is impervious to failing. Good luck with getting that bolt out.

Not saying your choice in tools was the cause but you should really invest in a better torque wrench.

I had a ARP head bolt strip when I was taking it out, the head of the bolt rounded off. All the bolts broke loose and came out without a problem except that one
