never had a problem like this before in all the 5 years of having my car the way it is... doing nothing wrong at all i ran into the BIGGEST ASSHOLE of all state troopers... long story short he acted as an inspection station and gave me a "roadside inspection" made me go through high beams blinkers tire tread depth check even had me pop my hood.... long story short he wrote me a ticket for all my violations and took out his knife and scraped off my valid inspection sticker and told me to get the car fixed its not road worthy.... when there are cars falling apart sounding like ass driving by...

question is can they legally rip off someone inspection sticker if its valid for the current year when they are NOT a licensed inspection station??? he said my tires were bald too but theyre drag radials and run a little lower on tread brand new....

Not sure about MA but it PA a cop can write you a fine or "fix it" ticket for any inspection violation at anytime however they have no right to remove the sticker.

Like in PA if a car has the wind shield replaced we can issue a replacement sticker (that has the same dates as the old stickers) even if the car is in failing condition. The sticker is good for 1 year regardless but the cop can fine you for a violation or right a "fix it" ticket

How many things he get you for ???

I used to have a 74 Blazer with 6-8" lift on 38's...got a lot of "fix it tickets" but never pulled my sticker. He got smart after a while and hit me with "materially altering vehicle after inspection" (max fine was 2 years jail time and $1000)

I know they can enforce it but thts what a ticket is for...the cop is not a licensed I spection station I don't see how he has the right to rip off my inspection sticker...what if I were a normal car that had passed inspection and months later the tires went bald and or exhaust is beggining to leak...you would just get a "fix it" ticket I don't see why he had to be such a pric and scrape off my inspection it's not like I was fucking around or being an idiot I was simply driving by...guy must hate Camaros or is a liberal O

ya if i get the chance to transfer and find a house elsewhere preferably NC ill hop right on that....im sick of mass liberals and asshole cops... there are some really cool cops who appreciate the hot rod scene if youre not an idiot but the assholes just ruin everything... either way im gettin my new sticker tomorrow with full exhaust/cats and pictures of everything so when i go fight this ticket i can explain how rude the cop was towards me how he singled me out over a bunch of other cars and how i have everything legal on my car...

oh and that area was kelly square in worcester...mind you ive NEVER had any problems in worcester or any city for that matter cause usually all the cops know im not an idiot and let me be...

They absolutley have the right to remove the sticker. I've even heard of them removing license plates in the OWNERS yard.

Also, the law states that ANY modification to items such as exhaust must remain OE stock. So even 50 state legal items are technically not legal according to the law.

Though you definately got singled out and it's shitty, be carefull of what you say and don't say in court.

mass law 90/16 does state you cannot have a "modified factory exhaust in wich case to increase noise... cannot have a cut out or hollowed out muffler.. blah blah...." key word here being "modified" with the examples of modifications listed so technically a "replaced" exhaust isnt illegal if the car still passes inspection. its like what happens if your factory exhaust is damaged or falling apart? well you have to replace it with something and it has to allow the car to still pass inspection so really "modified" and "replaced" are 2 diff categories and when i bring a copy of 90/16 to court ill read it word for word and state that this is what is written into law and i do not apply... well not anyomore as with pictures of my car with a full catted mufflered "replaced" exhaust thatll ill have to show as well along with my BRAND NEW reinspection sticker that i just got!... ive got more proof against the cop and proving my knowledge of 90/16 has helped me many times before

It all boils down to personality. If the guy is a level headed type of reasonable person, hopefully they let you go with a warning. If he's got an attitude, then you need to kiss his ass, act all timid, and empower his ego a little bit. The type of guy that gets an ego boost from sticking a ticket up your ass can usually be spoon fed an ego boost in a different way to help you avoid a ticket.

Joe "Preachers Sheets" DIESO

He may of not been doing anything. I was just stopped again yesterday by a state cop. He was a grade A cock sucker. Busting my balls for 20 minutes just grilling me in a loud voice like an asshole. I got to the point where I told him "just search the car if you want to, I dont care, if you want to just go ahead". He stopped me for no reason, there was no cell phone on, no weaving, seal belt was on, no speeding or anything. I pulled out of a parking lot and BAM he's there within 10 feet. I stop at a light in another 50 feet. As soon as the light goes green his strobes come on. The cop wouldnt tell me to get out so he kept peering in the windows and stuff. As he's peering through the tint and after 15 minutes I was really starting to hope he'd let me go or offically search the car to at least start the process so I could get out of there. I told him "look all you want" and rolled the windows down. If he made me get out of the car; before I did I was going to ask him for his badge and station because I felt my balls were being busted for no good reason.

Little did I know, the McDonald's I went to.....that was filled with 15+ opiate druggies jonsing for a hit was being staked out. They saw me, the only sober one walk in....sit down and eat then leave 10 minutes later. My buddy said the cops probably thought I sold something to them since thats where they all hang out waiting for their dealer to swing by.

You dont have to be doing shit to get stopped, wrong time and the wrong place or just a pissed off cop who doesnt like the way your face looks, your car or your perfume. Who knows.

I know DOT cops/troopers can do this but usually they only do roadside inspections on commercial trucks and such. their is a DOT trooper roaming around cape cod in a un-marked black charger FYI since most trucks on cape cod are over weight and there was a few accidents this summer involving over loaded trucks. one of my moms company vehicles was slightly rear-ended by an over loaded box truck which also got rear ended by another over weight truck behind it, it was a minor accident but they closed down the highway for hours in the middle of summer so the DOT cops could come an weigh them.

I don't believe that he can scrape off your reg sticker,
Technically he could have bagged you for failure to display proof of registration as you pulled away. I've had my share of bad cops in a few states.
He's probably some prick that got bullied in school and is still pissed at the cool kids with nice cars. My suggestion is to document everything that occured that night and bring it to court with you, get your car "fixed" and avoid the area he's in

Sounds extactly why sometimes I LOVE driving in MD. Then again we have some of the same retarded laws. Just i have nEVER heard or seen them inforced before.

The removing of the sticker seems a little drastic. Not sure if it is legal or not. But if yoru car had issues the judge is going to side with him in EITHER case of legality.

not gonna lie, NJ is Horrible! its not the state troopers who get you, its the city boys in the little towns. In the past 4 years iv payed over $4k for tickets, fines, court costs, etc. ALLL by the small town city cops! I thought it was just NJ but no0o0o0o0. I took a trip to Fl last year just to get away for a week and drove down. Tell me how in my GMC RST he pulls me over for nothing ( said i was a suspicious looking vehicle. WELL NO SH*T!) then proceeds to write me a ticket for no rear bumper when im not from the state and the truck hasnt been altered from the factory at all. completely stock! Tried explaining that it was limited edition blah blah blah. well after he hands me the one ticket, then searches me. On I-95, finds nothing. Goes back to his car and writes me and my passenger seat belt tickets. My passenger didnt even have a license! he lost it a couple months back. so tell me that isnt profiling and being a big d-bag.......?

I think maybe the OP referred to his inspection sticker regarding the legality of some issues. In response he "challenged the cop". The worst thing you can do is act like you know more than a cop or push your own knowledge around. You can try and reason with them and explain how/why you know this. But in their opinion ,they know the law, your just a "punk @$$ little kid or dishwasher" regardless of who you really are.

The inspection stations answer to the state police. So really they can do whatever they want about the inspection sticker. If I were you I would be ready for a re-inspection when that cop spots you again. They can and will do anything in there power to f@$% with you if you piss them off.

In response to another post. F@@& them, NEVER let them search your car if they are giving you atittude. Next thing you know they'll have your seats tore out, a german sheperd scratching the f@ck out of your paint or god knows whatever other f@ckups they can make. Make them get a search warrant because they have to have probable cause. Eating at Mcdonalds, As bad as that may be, is not probable cause that your a drug addict/dealer.

just got done reading all this and the stops the cops made and what not. alot of you are saying you been pulled over for no reason. which in that case is a unlawful stop for having nothing to pull you over for in the first place which can be taken to court. and him checking your lights, signals, horn, wipers, all that other stuff was to give him a reason to write you a ticket. dont tell a cop he can search your car because you just gave him consent to do so. even if you know you have nothing in there and he wants to think you do. its all officer discretion and the attitude of the op. if you get ticketed for anything and want to know if its right google your states general statute to check

Well living in both ma and fla I can tell you ma cops suck period. I've got the dot thing by a brockton city cop. And then a week before my move I got a 250 ticket for trespassing at a wendys when there was no one else there and they were still open. The worst part was I had just pulled in and the 2 cops told that there sick of people hanging out here. I simply responded with I have never had a issue with anyone. He said well now you do. Fuck them.

I roll around on hoosiers and my cutout open without any issues down here.
