Should I use a patriot dual valve spring just to be safe if I'm running a cam with .575 max lift? Or single?

Go with single comp 918 springs .. the new vesion rated at 0.625" ..

Any way it deponds on the cam lobe .. ask someone like PG or Predator Z and they can give you the correct one

well would is it necessarily a bad idea to run a double spring vs. a single? Does it rob any power?

Personally I would stay away from the 918's because of their track record...new design or not. The Pac 1518's would be a better choice. A double will be a little more noisy and can rob a little power, but do offer some added benefits if one should break. What exactly are the specs of the camshaft you are going with?

On that low of a lift you will benefit from a single beehive. The PAC 1218 or 1518 will be fine depending how much you want to spend.
