Wanting to put a single 10" sub in my CTS-V and just want a little more bass then the stock Bose 7" sub can porduce. Im not looking to shake the ground just want some good bass thats clear and accurate. I listened to an

Alpine MRP-M500 amp
and
Alpine Type R 10" dual voice sub

It sounded awesome and they fit my price range. My question is will they work well together? The guy installing them said that the amp(500RMS) will not last long powering that sub(600RMS). I have no knowledge of car audio and would like some input. Im getting them from Best Buy and plan on doing the 4yr plan for 25 bucks. What are your thoughts?

I assume they are selling you the Alpine SWR-1043D which is a dual 4ohm speaker and when bridged at 2 ohm is capable of 600w RMS. The amp running at 500W RMS at 2 ohm is just fine. Underpoweering a speaker from it's max rating is not going to harm it. Not sure what their game is tell you it isn't going to "last long" but no worries the amp will work. Alpine acctually rates the speaker as 300 - 600W RMS

If you are interested shoot me a PM and I can put together a setup for you that will sound better and cost you a less money.

I have the Type-R 1042, the previous model. The only difference that I've seen, is the newer model can handle more power(100w), and it has better cooling capabilities. Anyways, I'm putting 410w to mine, and it's more then enough for the sub, in a stealth box.

The best part, you can get the 1042 for like $95 shipped at most places because it's discontinued. :)

179 for the sub and 199 for the amp. besides the financing(because i do have cash to pay for it) i have had great past experiences with there replacement plans. So if anything ever happened id be covered.

Personally, I would just get that 1042 Type R. Also, don't forget the amp install kit, that will run you another $80 or so, depending on the brand you get of course.
