So today was our last race day for the summer and I ended it with a bang. I drove to the track again 45 miles. Went to change spark plugs and pulled the spark plug wire appart. So after fighting putting that back together and now with the correct spark plugs (BR7EF). Then on the 9.75 pass just before the finish the hood flew off.
My new personal bests.

I'm not sure what the DA was yesterday. Actual elevation is just hundreds of feet above sea level. It was 60 degrees and not real humid. This time of the year if you don't like the weather just wait 15 minutes and it'll change.

Here's the after pics. The hood was atleast 40 feet in the air. I've personally tested the durability of this VFN hood and it came out like a champ.
On the way back to the pits. I just rested it back in place.

The only top side damage.

The underside damage. Just a handful of these stress cracks. Notice the zues fasteners are still locked. Those aluminum pieces are the mounting bars that use to be rivited to the fenders.

Being a true street car. This is how I drove it back home since it wouldn't fit in the back.

what made your hood fly off?

In the center of the front there is a hood pin. On my way down my street that morning it flew off. So I ran back to the house found another styled one and went to the track. With all the air flow at 135.88 mph lifting on the hood it popped that second one right off and once that happened the air flow peeled the hood right off and my aluminum rails that it zeus fasteners on to. So I'm going to redo a couple of things to make sure it never happens again. Lol

It's still got a ton more in it. I was pig rich on that run and can go down atleast 2 or 3 fuel jets on the 150 shot. I don't know if I'd call that a trophy. More just telling me to stop because things kept happening and getting progressivly worse. My trophy would have been setting the new LSX record up here. :D
